Google Analytics Settings and UTM Parameters

Google Analytics is a popular tool so far as analyzing data regarding your eCommerce website is concerned.

Flashy performs several integrations with Google Analytics to help you better understand the source of traffic coming from Flashy.

UTM Settings

In every message sent via Flashy, we insert a UTM so that you can identify the visits and customer behavior that came from the messages sent via Flashy.

Please note – to do this you must insert a complete link exactly as it appears on your website (including HTTP).

Finding Flashy Data on Google Analytics

UTM Source: flashyapp

UTM Medium: campaign / automation / sms

UTM Campaign

In case it’s a campaign – when creating an email campaign, on the first step, at the bottom of the page you must fill into the box the name of the campaign you wish to appear on Google Analytics reports (for instance:passhover_2021). Then, in Google Analytics, under campaign, the campaign name that you filled in will appear.

There is no need to set / add the Google Analytics tag since Google Analytics is installed on the website and Flashy sends parameters that Google Analytics identifies on its own.

UTM Automation

If it's an automation – it will include the automation's ID in the following manner:

flashy_automation_{{ID}}

You can see the ID in the link within the automation – for instance:

Customers' Email Parameters

Flashy works as a CDP (Customer Data Platform), and to identify the actions that customers perform after they have entered the website we send the customer's email parameter, Apart from Flashy's use of this parameter, other platforms, such as popups / customer service, use the email parameter to identify customers and track their actions on the website since they have no other parameter to send to Flashy.

Google Analytics tracks all parameters that are part of the URL address, many times we will receive parameters that are nonessential and hinder our ability to analyze and assess the data properly.
Flashy will send an email parameter when a customer enters the website. Using a simple setting we can have this parameter excluded, thus avoiding duplication of the same pages, and enabling assess the information easily and accurately.

To do this, log into your Google Analytics account, and go to the "View Settings" page.

This page is under Admin > Account > Property > View

You must fill in the parameter you wish to be excluded in the field intended especially for that.

We have switched the field from email to Flashy, the parameter must be updated accordingly

If there are any more parameters you wish to exclude from Google Analytics, you may add them, separated by commas. We recommend excluding as many parameters as possible that do not affect data assessment, thus avoiding duplicate links, and enabling you to easily analyze the information.
