Utilizing Contact Properties

You want to know everything about your customers so that you can communicate with them in the most effective way. With Contact Properties, Flashy gives you the ability to collect a diverse array of highly specialized customer information. You can then create segments based on these details and build different audiences around them.

View contact properties

To access Contact Properties, go to Contacts in your Flashy dashboard at the top of your screen, and then click on the gear icon in the upper-right corner.

Here you will see many different groups of contact properties, ranging from basic contact and demographic information to eCommerce activity to Rewards. Some groups, like Website Activity, contain information that is collected and updated automatically by Flashy. Others, like Social Networks, will need to be updated and maintained by your business.

Within each contact property group, there are three categories of information:

Title - Makes the information easily identifiable.

Key - Name of the field that should be used when you want to update this property on another system. 

Type - Specifies the filter that you want to use (see below).

Create a new contact property

  • Click on “Create Property” in the upper-right corner.
  • Fill in the details of your new property:
  1. Group - Choose the appropriate property group from the main contact properties page (website activity, eCommerce, etc.)
  2. Title - Enter a property name. For example, if you are an eCommerce business selling pet food, you might choose the title “Pet Name.”
  3. Key - You can choose any format you like for the key. In this example, we might choose “pet_name.” 
  4. Type - There are four types to choose from:
  • Text - a specific word you want to search for in customer profiles
  • Number - more than, less than, or a specific number
  • Boolean - True or False
  • Date - Set parameters to filter for actions that happened within a specific time frame (last 7 days, last month, etc.)
  • Click “Create Property” and your new property will be added to the group you specified.

With Flashy, you can create as many properties as you want in order to reach highly targeted groups of customers and achieve your business goals!
